About Jerome

A life of learning.
A commitment to people.

I’m Jerome West, a counselor, addiction professional, prevention consultant, and educator.

My path has taken me through direct care, community leadership, and the classroom. Each experience has deepened my respect for people’s resilience and for the relationships that help them move forward.

I bring more than 20 years across behavioral health and community services, along with an academic background that connects clinical counseling, healthcare leadership, and faith-informed understanding.

Professional experience

A career built
through service.

01 / DIRECT CARE

Understanding people
in the context of their lives.

Mental health case management, residential treatment, and work in an adolescent psychiatric unit shaped my understanding of the many levels of support people may need.

My clinical experience includes substance use assessment, treatment planning, individual and group counseling, relapse prevention, crisis intervention, and telehealth.

02 / PROGRAM LEADERSHIP

Building services
that reach people.

As a program manager and executive director, I have led community behavioral health initiatives, expanded prevention programming, and supported staff and organizational development.

03 / EDUCATION & COMMUNITY

Sharing knowledge.
Strengthening connections.

My background includes adjunct teaching, adult education, mentoring, and professional training. I value the role of clear information and practical skills in helping people move forward.

Community engagement, culturally responsive care, and collaboration across disciplines remain central to how I approach this work.

What guides me

The perspective
I bring

My own educational and professional journey has shaped my respect for perseverance, continued learning and the support people need as they grow. Those experiences inform how I work with others: accepting the person in front of me, remaining curious about who they’re becoming and taking their goals seriously enough to offer both encouragement and accountability.

Faith is part of my own story, and my graduate training in pastoral counseling informs my interest in integrating faith and spirituality into counseling. I care about bridging the gap between faith communities and mental health, while welcoming people of all beliefs. Any exploration of faith or spirituality is guided by the individual’s wishes and values.
